Herrscher of Origin Mei re-write
Seeds Bear New Life When Flowers Dare to Fade
(Taking place immediately after Because of You)
Mei woke up. She felt weak, and her head was spinning.
“What… happened?”
Confused, she stood up, looking at her surroundings. The dark room she was in was slightly familiar, and as she gathered her bearings, she remembered where she was.
“Elysia,” she whispered, immediately moving toward the entrance of the Elysian Realm.
“Elysia.” She said louder, desperation growing as her memories resurfaced. Was the Herrscher of Corruption defeated? Was Elysia still alive?
Tears filling her eyes as the possibilities flashed across her mind, she entered the lobby to the realm.
“ELYSIA!” Her voice cracked, praying that she would hear her say even a simple “Hi” to her once again.
Her tears fell to the ground.
The lounge remained as it was; however, it was dark and empty, save for a pink crystal flower floating in the air. The room echoed back Mei's desperate cry.
It was all gone, the Flame Chasers, the friends she made these past months, gone in an instant.
“I’m sorry, I’m so, so, sorry,” She sobbed out.
It was her fault, she was the one which brought the Herrscher of Corruption to the Realm, she was the one who killed the Flame Chasers.
Bringing her eyes back to the crystal flower, she didn’t need to be told what it truly was to understand the significance.
Despite being the one to kill her, Elysia presented Mei with the core- no, the Flower of Origin. Mei reached her trembling hands out, cupping the flower gently. Another sob broke free from her as she hugged it to her chest.
“I’m so sorry.”
Falling to her knees once more, she cried all the pain she felt, begging for a second chance until she couldn’t anymore.
Wiping the tears from her eyes, she slowly stood up again, cradling the flower.
Gazing at it, she wondered if she was worthy of the Flower of Origin. Why should she gain the Herrscher authority of the friend she killed? And yet…
Yet the flower wouldn’t be in front of her now if Elysia didn’t wish for her to become the next Herrscher of Origin. Beyond the guilt, Mei desperately wanted to aswell. She would persevere where the Flame-Chasers failed, and she would create the world they desperately wished for; the world her friends from Schicksal and Anti-Entropy wished for; the world every human on the planet desperately wished to live in.
The world Kiana deserved to live in.
Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, she recalled Elysia’s final words to her, and told herself,
“I want to do this,” The Flower of Origin's crystals moved away from its center, revealing the Seed of Origin.
“I can do this,” Mei gently took it, placing it to her chest as the Authority of the Herrscher of Origin washed over her. It felt warm and comforting, almost as if Elysia was telling her everything was alright. A few more tears stained her cheeks as she finished,
“I will decide how the future’s written.” Mei gasped, her eyes snapping open as she heard Elysia speak the words with her. Looking around frantically, she realized that the Flower of Origin had moved back into place and taken on a purple color.
She smiled softly, Elysia was gone, but her will would remain with Mei.
For what would be the last time, she heard Elysia’s voice.
“It ends with me.”
Brushing back the hair over her right shoulder, she pinned it back with the Flower of Origin.
“And it begins with me.”
With a new resolve, the new Herrscher of Origin exited the Elysian Realm for the last time.
